This picture was taken at the "Gathering
of Eagles" in Las Vegas, CA in February of 1999. The gentleman
on the left, whom I am shaking hands with is William Chun Jr.,
son of William Chun Sr., who was one of Professor William K. S.
Chow's senior Black Belts in the Kara-Ho Kenpo/Kempo System. William
Chun Sr. was the main people that Nick Cerio and William Marcierelli
worked with when they first went to Hawaii. Bill Jr. is perpetuating
the memory of his father and the system he studied through his
studios, Chow
/ Chun Art Of Self Defense
Traditional Go Shin Jitsu ~ Kai
Chinese Kempo,
located in Fairfield and Vallejo, California. Many consider his
father to be Professor Chow's prodigy and the original inheritor
of William "Thunderbolt" Chow's Kara-Ho System. It was
an honor to meet him after reading the article on he and his father's
system in Karate International Magazine. The system had all the
earmarks of Hawaiian Kenpo/Kempo: hard, bone-breaking blocks or
soft, circular parries, quarter-beat timed multiple strikes, buckling
actions or leg take-downs, slapping checks and palm strikes were
all showcased during his seminar. He confirmed many of the aspects
that I have seen from previous instructors who have trained with
Professor Chow directly.
