This picture was taken at Fumio
Demura's seminar
in East Providence, Rhode Island on February 4th and 5th in 1995
with Mr. Harry Cook, who is one of Great Britain's, if not Europe's,
most well-known Martial Arts authors. Besides, numerous articles
that have appeared in Fighting Arts Illustrated, Combat, as well
as other European periodicals/magazines. He has also written several
excellent articles on the art of Kenpo/Kempo. It was an unexpected
surprise to meet him seeing that he had traveled all the way from
the United Kingdom to interview as well as train with Demura Sensei.
Cook Sensei is a credit to the Martial Arts, not only for his articles on the arts that personally trains in, but also for his diversity in writing articles on other Martial Arts as well. The articles on Kenpo, that I have read, have been well-researched, well-documented, and, for the most part, highly accurate.
I hope to see Mr. Cook again if and when he visits our shores and hopefully show him my Martial Arts archives. He would be a valuable resource to any Martial Arts historian's research!
